I like Marmol a lot. I truly feel he should be your closer. But I understand the philosophy why Wood is the closer. It makes sense. He cant get up in the pen more than once to warmup. Plus, he does have the stuff to be a closer, and probably the right mentality also.

its actually his first save. opening day wasnt a save situation since it was a 0-0 game. Its alright, the cubs offense was more the problem here. they had plenty of chances to score more runs throughout the game.

kerry wood got the win today when lou put him in the 8th inning and he went two innings (howry got the save, thanks to a sweet defensive play by cedeno. wood was helped by an even sweeter defensive play in the ninth by D. Lee)

yep. thats probably why he went two innings today. the bullpen has been taxed this week with 3 extra inning games (plus bad starting pitching for most of the games of the week) but at least they won em all.

I wouldn't even compare Gagne to anyone, as Wood still has a live arm. It's sad how far Gagne has fallen. Why the Brewers thought he'd get his act together is beyond me. Though I think part of it is, he needs to get in shape. He was never a very skinny guy, but he just looks out of shape.
