Baker: Walker could be back with Cubs this week
May 24, 2005

Manager Dusty Baker said second baseman Todd Walker could be back with the Cubs either Wednesday or Thursday. Walker is on a rehab assignment with Class AAA Iowa after going on the disabled list April 11 with a sprained left knee.

Baker wasn't ready to say Walker automatically would replace Jerry Hairston Jr. as the starting second baseman. But he indicated Walker could require plentiful playing time to recapture his hitting stroke. So if Walker is physically able, he should play on a regular basis once he returns to the lineup.

Good news. Should help revitalize the lineup .
