    Cubs Sign Wade Miller

Wade Miller re-signed with the Cubs Thursday, agreeing to a one-year deal.
Miller missed most of the 2006 season following shoulder surgery, going 0-2 with a 4.57 ERA in five late-season starts. If healthy, he should have a spot in the Cubs' starting rotation in 2007 and could have an underrated fantasy impact.
A much better option than Guzman.

If you're going to sign a guy just to retain his rights while injured to hopefully resign him on the cheap, it only makes sense to bring him back considering he should be healthy for '07. Not to mention the kind of cash that the Cubs will be dropping this offseason, at the worst, they could stick him in middle relief and flip him at the deadline if he stays healthy.

    pretty much.

except i dont think he will stay healthy. still, his contract is a drop in the bucket to the cubs payroll.

Well you have to realize that Wood will not be a starter and Prior is a 50% chance of staying healthy a whole year.

At least he came back at the end of the season to get some kind of feeling for his arm.

Wade Miller is guaranteed $1.5 million under the terms of the one-year deal he signed with the Cubs on Thursday.
He could make as much as $5.25 million next season if he reaches all of the incentives in the contract. The exact details of the deal aren't yet known, but he would likely have to throw more than 200 innings to make the full amount.
