    Foulke sparkes in Sox loss

Red Sox at the plate: David Ortiz went 2-for-4 and drove in a run to pace a balanced attack. Alex Gonzalez showed signs of snapping out of his spring slump with an RBI double, and Coco Crisp singled and stole two bases.

Blue Jays at the plate: Russ Adams (two-run homer) and Eric Hinske each took Tim Wakefield deep in the fourth inning. Vernon Wells (3-for-4) and Lyle Overbay (2-for-4) also had productive afternoons.

Red Sox on the mound: Veteran knuckleballer Wakefield was touched up for 10 hits and four runs over five innings, but he didn't walk anyone and struck out four. Meanwhile, closer Keith Foulke, facing Major League competition for the first time this spring, pitched a 1-2-3 inning.

Blue Jays on the mound: Right-hander Josh Towers went 5 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out five.

I saw a lot of this game. It wasn't horrible, but Wake made a couple bad pitches (see the homeruns) and the Sox bats never got in a true rhythm. Looked good early with a Crisp double, Loretta almost getting a XBH (reaching catch by Rios), and Ortiz driving him in.

Still, Foulke looked very good and I just have to hope he continues.
