RED SOX 10, BOSTON COLLEGE 0 (7)
at Fort Myers, Fla.
Friday, March 3
Red Sox at the plate: Willie Harris hit a two-run double and scored a run from the leadoff spot. Mark Loretta, playing his first game in a Boston uniform, had an RBI double.
Boston College at the plate: Catcher Jett Ruiz went 2-for-2 with a double, while Robert Dittrich produced the only hit off Red Sox ace Curt Schilling.
Red Sox on the mound: Schilling was sharp, allowing just one hit over four innings of work, striking out three and throwing 35 pitches. Rule 5 Draft pick Jamie Vermilyea fired two shutout innings.
Boston College on the mound: The Eagles got shutout innings from Ted Ratliff and Nick Asselin. Boston College used a different pitcher in all six innings.
IIRC, Asselin was a student at Trinity HS when I was a freshmen. Nice.
And now Schilling can own 19 and 20 year olds at Boston College. He's on the road to recovery.
On a serious note, good job to Mark Loretta. You and Coco
