    Red Sox Kapler already done

Gabe Kapler suffered a ruptured left Achilles' tendon tonight and will miss the rest of the season.
Kapler, a free agent at the end of the season, could be sidelined well into next year. His absence could turn Kevin Millar into Trot Nixon's platoon player, with John Olerud beginning to start at first base against lefties. The Red Sox will likely add Adam Hyzdu or George Lombard for insurance. We could also say that this means the Red Sox are doomed if Johnny Damon is knocked out of the lineup for a prolonged period of time, but that was already the case. Womp womp.

That sucks. It hurts a lot more than it seems, since it means the Sox don't have a real CF if Damon is out for a long period of time. This hurts.

The Sox still won today, but this is dangerous.

What was cool about this is how Kapler suffered the injury.

Graffanino hits a homerun and as Kapler rounds second base, he ruptures his achilles, haha what a loser. The guy on base had to stop on second since the ruling wouldn't let him pass him up. The ruling states that in that situation, they can use a substitute runner. They brought a sub in to run the rest of the homer off.

    Weird stuff and funny highlight.

Anyways, on ESPN last night, Kapler was saying how he thinks he can be back this season.

The team needs Damon more than ever.

And that was Machado's first ever run too, what a way to score your first.
