Sox to "explore" trade of Manny

Just says the Sox will look into a trade, but that it will be hard because of his contract.

Manny could be the least tradeable player in baseball.

A) There's a lack of players that are equal value
B) His contract is outrageous.

If he made 20 million and was mediocre, the Sox could take a problem contract or two in return and get relatively equal value. Obviously, if he was a great player making 10 million, they could get equal value in prospects and pros for him. However, Alex Rodriguez was one of the only players that made sense in trade and he's a Yankee now (not to mention a lot of people in Boston hate his guts).

There's only two or three teams that could handle his money (say, the Mets including Cameron or Floyd (or dare I say Beltran...nah. )), so maybe in the offseason, but not now.

Just DFNYY (DFA) him...the yanks can sign him and have him play CF

Manny would be their best CF available anyway. OK, not defensively, but I'm sure he'd make the outs without a Green Monster to add some yellow to.

Well I guess we can put Manny on the top of the list of want outfielders. May quiet a lot of possible reds outfield rumors as well. But, I would hope for the Sox sake that they keep him.

I'd take Manny's 2/3 errors a game to have him play center, that's for sure. But I think the Yankees are concentrating hard on signing Mark Fidyrch right now.
