Wait, so Cherington isn't the fantastic replacement that all of Boston were claiming him to be?

I have often said in the past sometimes a divorce between team and player is a good thing for one of the parties and often times both. Youk has been a big shot in the arm for the Chisox and the move seems to have breathed new life into him even taking Player of the Week honors.
Youk will fall back to earth... he's old, can't move and bat speed isn't the same... did a lot of good but we got a role player and a very good 25 yr old arm in Zach Stewart... in a couple years this will look like robbery for the Red Sox
He's not so old that his production should have fallen off as much as it did. Plus, he did have a pretty pretty good May. The trade may look better for the Red Sox in a couple of years, I wouldn't doubt it, but Youk very well may put up some nice numbers in Chicago this year.
I doubt Youk falls back to earlier Boston numbers. He is revitalized and is actually wanted in Chicago. Also, his walk rates are back to normal. Zach Stewart and "very good" should never be in the same sentence. Only one being robbed here were the Red Sox. Red Sox should have done better.
Guy was a top prospect and everyone is selling the guy short... he's 25... he'll be useful in a year or 2... everyone is so now results oriented... come back in 2 years and when Stewart is pitching well in the majors and tell me its a bad deal
Your argument is valid....provided your predictions of unforseen events 2 years in the future come true.
I didn't call Stewart a bust and I'm not sure who's calling Upton a hall of famer.

Upton has shown his value before, Stewart has...done nothing.
Stewart was never a top prospect and it has nothing to do with being "so now results oriented". His minor league numbers aren't very impressive and his MLB numbers just suck out loud. No one should expect anything but a back of the rotation starter from Stewart, if that.
