    Theo to Chicago Cubs

All but done, (see Boston herald and ESPN pieces) but good news is we will get compensation!!!

Anyone know guys in the Cubs system that are any good I can look forward to?

I think this is a good move for the Sox... Theo is pretty overrated tbh... But he did get us rings so I'll always be grateful but I think Cherington could be a better GM than Theo.

From what I've been reading, I'd expect some cash and a mid level prospect. Nobody has any idea exactly who it will be.

Still not a done deal. Probably won't know until tomorrow or the next day.

They should dump Soriano on Boston as compensation.

That Boston Herald piece is a load of crap piled up by someone high up to make Theo, players, and Francona look like a bunch of "idiots". I'd be pumped to be getting out of that situation if I was anyone in the organization that was "blamed" for September's collapse.

Looks like all the Red Sox are getting is cash in return for Epstein. Cubs are paying $4 million a year for Epstein, wow!

According to sources, Major League Baseball expressed great concern over the compensation package because they do not want this deal to affect how other teams compete in the market for front-office personnel.

I don't think its going to be so inconsequential as you guys are saying... Ozzie got 2 really good specs in return

Might as well pick up the phone and ask Jed Hoyer if he wants to come back. That is, if he doesn't feel like he owes it to the Padres to see how the Adrian Gonzalez trade pans out in their end.

Define really good. The Marlins system is pretty terrible. So top ten prospects in their system probably isn't in the top twenty for most organizations.

I'm hearing more and more that it's just going to be cash.

Also, I'm pretty sure the reason the White Sox got prospects in return for Ozzie was because the Marlins could have faced tampering charges.

Yeah the White Sox definitely didn't get two really good prospects for Ozzie. They got one mid-level prospect and one minor leaguer who is nothing but organizational depth. Getting the Cubs to shell out more money is not inconsequential.

    Per Buster Olney on twitter:

Rival GM: "Cubs should just keep saying no (on compensation for Theo). What are the Red Sox going to do -- bring Theo back? No way."

I honestly think something is in place and MLB is making them wait until Monday or Tuesday to make an announcement, when the lcs is over/ world series begin.

And if I'm wrong, Olney is right.

Pretty smart if you ask me. No way he returns to the Red Sox. Asking for even marginal prospects is a scary precedent and I just don't see it happening.

Just do money. Red Sox should not be owed anything. They don't deserve shit the way they're attacking him anyways

Its funny seeing the panic on other Cub forums that a deal hasn't been made yet. Seriously, Theo isn't going back to Boston. This will be ironed out one way or another.

I'm hoping for just cash, but I think a mid level prospect or two will be involved.
