Looks like Ricketts is holding firm. Also looks like Epstein will be bringing one guy over with him, but who isnt known yet.

I still have no doubts that this gets done. Friday could be a window to make an announcement, pending approval by Selig of course.

I don't care what shiny new title the Cubs are giving him. They aren't paying him $15 million over five years to not do the GM job.

So if the Sox get two minor league players with very low ceilings then they still win? What happened to two or three top tier prospects?

If thats the case we'll have a debate but according to Nick Cafardo: The Red Sox are "holding tough" on their asking price and don't anticipate resolution tonight.

I just don't think its a big deal for the Cubs to give up your best prospects cause (1) they aren't that great, (2) you aren't winning for 5-6 years anyways (3) Theo is more valuable than them

Yeah, it's easy to say that as a Red Sox columnist. All the Chicago media is saying the same about the Cubs.

Because no baseball executive is worth top prospects. I wouldn't be surprised if MLB is overseeing all of this to make sure nothing too big heads to Boston for Theo. They don't want this to be a precedent for future instances.

1) Sure, we don't have a Harper in our system. But you don't know a damn thing about our system, so don't pretend that you do.
2) Prove it. 5-6 years? Really? We have a shit ton of money coming off the books this year and next. There's no reason to believe this team can't compete by 2014. Last I checked, that's two seasons away.
