Wow!! He batted .280 with a .327 OBP in 250 MLB AB's?? Well hot shit! Lock him up!! He's a 4th OFer at best and his unimpressive minor league numbers show that. Plus like I said, he just had wrist surgery. Lars Anderson fell out of the top 100 BA list last year but hey, what do they know?

What are you basing that on? When has Theo ever blown things up and rebuilt?

That's blowing a team up? OK.

Letting the Corpse of Nomar, the over the hill Pedro Martinez, Jason Bay was let go because he wanted too much money and his numbers with Mets prove why, and Derek Lowe was declining at the time he was let go. Thats not really blowing it up. Blowing it up would be something Bill Bavasi would do the the Mariners.

Letting a few good players go does not equal blowing up the team.

What does a blow up have to do with getting value back? "I was going to ask for a prospect or two in a Garza trade. I decided to blow it up instead. Want me to throw Marmol in?"

Incorrect. Every single prospect in that deal was viewed as a major leaguer. Only Archer and Lee were viewed as potential stars though. The worst player in that deal was Sam Fuld. Chances are the Cubs will want more than they gave to the Rays. I highly doubt Theo wants anything to do with that package of players. Plus he knows your system inside and out. You're not going to fool him with anybody.

    Re: Theo to Chicago Cubs

blowing things up was for the person that said he'd keep Garza... I doubt he does... Has nothing to do with value.

Depends on who you read DMB (as is the case with most trades), but again if the Sox-Cubs wanted to match up they certainly have the specs to do so.

Cubs gave up two top 100 prospects to get Garza. Red Sox would have to do better and so far none have been mentioned.

    A 12-pack, a bucket of KFC, and a pre-order of Madden 13 will do.

I read somewhere that they still think they can get Brett Jackson or Trey McNutt...

    Good luck with that.

Epstein explained it perfectly in that MLBTR article. They'll be lucky to get a prospect in the 15-30 range.

    And it's almost over!

Chicago Cubs send pitcher Chris Carpenter to Boston Red Sox as comp for Theo Epstein - ESPN

The Chicago Cubs are sending reliever Chris Carpenter to the Boston Red Sox as compensation for hiring Theo Epstein as president of baseball operations.

Supposedly, there is another exchange coming but this isn't exactly the big deal the Red Sox were anticipating. When I first saw it on Twitter I thought they were making a joke in "Cubs sending the Cardinals ace to the Sox for Theo".
