Rich Harden NOT Acquired by Red Sox

    Reported by Jason Stark:

RHP Rich Harden to Boston in exchange for AAA 1B Lars Anderson and PTBNL

Makes a lot of sense for both teams, Anderson blocked by Gonzo at 1B so had no future in Boston and Harden has a high upside arm... I suspect the PTBNL won't be a significant one

It's destiny for the Nation to have a "Dick" on the team.

I like this deal for the A's. This is exactly why they signed Harden in the offseason, to be traded.

Deal falls through... I'm going to guess Red Sox didn't like what the medical records showed

Apparently, they didn't want to send a PTBNL.

After getting a look at Harden's medicals, #RedSox tried to restructure deal with only Anderson going to A's (no PTBN) and were rebuffed

They also looked at Eric Bedard. How many beat up pitchers do you need?

Why would the A's rebuff? I thought Anderson was a good player to get for a injury prone pitcher with no future with the club.

His numbers have declined the last few seasons and not thought of as highly as he was 3 years ago. I'm happy either way, but whatever. Balking over a PTBNL on both sides is ridiculous.

OPS hasn't been that high and his homer totals the last 3 years are low for someone with "elite" power.

2009 OPS .673 and 9 homers at AA
    2010 OPS .810 and 15 homers at AA/AAA
2011 OPS .782 and 10 homers at AAA

Oh, too bad. The Nation is "Dick-less" again.
