Red Sox Red Sox make some moves

The Red Sox made a couple of moves today to add to their pitching staff. They inked Kevin Millwood to a minor league deal and traded for Franklin Morales for a PTBNL. With the injury bug hitting the rotation, Millwood might actually see some MLB action. Morales has good stuff but command is a real problem. Looks like two no risk moves for the Sox that might have some minimal success.

I think I would have gone with Wakefield and Aceves in the rotation before I went the Millwood and Morales route.

The Red Sox are still going the Wakefield/Aceves route. Millwood is basically depth right now and Morales is a reliever.

Well having depth is good. You certainly can't have enough of that even if it is Kevin Millwood.

Okajima was DFA'd today as well. I bet somebody claims him.

Yeah there are teams that need some bullpen depth and help for sure.

I'm sure Wake will go back to the pen... he's had some bad starts and Millwood takes that place... if Freddy Garcia/Bartolo Colon can pitch well... so can Millwood

Millwood can be an innings eater that is for sure. Last year his W/L record should not even be looked out. He was playing for the Orioles and a lot of times the offense they gave him was really shitty. He didn't have that great of an ERAat 5.10 in 2010, but I see him in the mid 4 range and a guy that can save the bullpen.
