Red Sox Lester Gets Opening Day Nod

Red Sox manager Terry Francona announced Wednesday that Jon Lester will start Opening Day against the Rangers.
This was expected for a while, but it's finally official. Lester, 27, went 19-9 with a 3.25 ERA over 32 starts with the Red Sox last season and has unseated Josh Beckett as the club's ace. He has thrown at least 200 innings over each of the past three seasons.
Definitely the right call here. The Red Sox rotation isn't as good as everyone wants to think. Lester is good but Beckett, Lackey and Dice K really need to step it up. Lester and Buchholz can't carry this team all year.

Lackey hasn't been worth his $80 million contract, I see.
