    Red Sox Salty's Coming Back

The Red Sox and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia avoided arbitration Thursday by agreeing to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
Salty, 25, was picked up from the Rangers at the July trade deadline and went 3-for-19 (.158) with three doubles, one RBI and six walks in 10 games for the Red Sox. His role for 2011 won't be determined until a decision is made on high-profile free agent Victor Martinez.
Damn, seems like he is older than 25 but he isn't and still has a lot of time to become a full-time player. Salty really needs to work on his defense and his approach at the plate if he wants to become a regular. He might even need to start thinking about a position change.

Um, yeah, Salty isn't going to cut it as V-Mart's replacement. I expect them to go after Russell Martin now that he won't cost them Clay Buchholz.

Yeah, probably. Nobody else will break the bank for V-Mart, who's a DH in the making.
