Red Sox Red Sox owners bid on Liverpool F.C.

AP source: Red Sox bid for Liverpool - World Soccer - Yahoo! Sports

LONDON (AP)—Liverpool’s financial problems escalated Tuesday when the sagging club received a takeover bid from the Boston Red Sox’s parent company plus another offer, then announced its American owners were opposed to the offers and trying to oust two senior board members.

Co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. rejected the offers because the bidders are only willing to pay around 300 million pounds ($477 million), slightly more than the 218.9 million pounds (then $431 million) the pair paid for the club in 2007. But the club’s debt, which must be repaid by Oct. 15, has grown to around 285 million pounds ($453 million)
Tough year for Tom Hicks. Far be it for the average fan to question why billionaire MLB owners would get involved with the sinkhole that is an English soccer franchise, but if the bid goes through might the day come when NESV has to choose between Dustin Pedroia and Steven Gerrard?

You think they would have learned with the Glazer/Manchester United fiasco........one of the contributing factors in the last few horrific Bucs seasons and season ticket holders jumping ship.

United fans aren't happy with them either, so Malcontent Glazer and his sons Beavis and Butthead are hated by both fan bases on two sides of the big pond.

At least for Bucs fans, the Glazers did bring them a championship in this decade before they started siphoning revenue from the Bucs to Man U.

And "Love United, Hate Glazer" is just lame for a protest slogan. Damn Brits don't know how to get angry at their team's owners.

You really need to teach them a thing or two mofo.
Also to be fair, Liverpool is down in the dumps in EPL action. They can only go up from here or else everyone will become Everton fans, and no one wants that.

Hasn't kept the fans here from turning on them.

It's a done deal. Tom Hicks has lost two major sports franchises in one year. McCourt could still give Hicks a run for the title of most litigious and debt-ridden owner.
