Jason Bay has rejected the Red Sox's latest contract offer - ESPN Boston

Jason Bay turned down the latest contract offer from the Boston Red Sox and was prepared to "move on", agent Joe Urbon confirmed to ESPNBoston.com on Saturday.


"We don't agree with their evaluation of the player," Urbon told Foxsports.com. "Frankly, we have other offers on the table that are of greater interest to Jason."

Perhaps the red sox are weighing too much on an Adrian Gonzalez/Miguel Cabrera trade that easily may never materialize, or do they pursue Matt Holliday? Maybe a lesser extent veteran option such as Vladimir Guerrero. Whatever the case may be, it's a decent blow to the lineup, that's really not that impressive anymore to begin with.

Bay (read Bay's agent) moving on is different than the Red Sox moving on. Like Prov said, it isn't over yet. This could just be a move to get the third offer from the Red Sox.
