    Well, it can't really hurt. They put LaRoche at 1B, move Youk to 3B, and Lowell, who's been hurt gets to sit once in a while. The Sox won't have to play Mark Kotsay as their primary backup 1B anymore. LaRoche is a good defensive 1B with power. Duncan, I don't think will have much of an impact, but he's an additional lefty power hitter off the bench.

    I think both trades were ok, since the Sox gave up absolutely nothing, but neither is mind blowing.

    They'd be better off getting a real SS. But the LaRoche trade isn't bad, power is a good thing and their offense is sliding.
