Police in California have arrested a man following a death threat made late last week to the family of Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia. According to an official report, the police in Pedroia's hometown of Woodland, Calif., responded to the Pedroia family business, Valley Tire Center, Friday afternoon after threatening phone calls were made. A police officer spoke with the caller and the call was traced. Police then arrested Kenneth Samuels, 47, of Woodland. The suspect was booked into Yolo County Jail. According to a press release issued by the Woodland Police Department, the suspect made specific and multiple threats to the male members of the Pedroia family, saying they would be shot and killed. The Red Sox do not comment on security issues. There are always extra security measures taken at each team's hotel on the road, and it's likely it will be increased for the next couple of days when the Red Sox travel to Oakland, which is only an hour from Woodland.
