WEEI.com reports that the Red Sox are close to signing Brad Wilkerson to a minor league contract.
Wilkerson went from underrated to useless in a hurry, hitting .220/.308/.326 in 309 plate appearances between Seattle and Toronto last season. He's a long shot to crack the Opening Day roster.
Underrated? Wilkerson was never that good in the first place. Wilkerson will find a job this spring but it won't be with the Red Sox.
