Red Sox Lowell Is Right On Track

Red Sox GM Theo Epstein said Thursday that Mike Lowell is "on schedule" in his rehab from October hip surgery.
"He's definitely going to show up [at spring training]," said Epstein. "His routine may or may not be readjusted a little bit. What we're looking at as an organization is what is Mike like at the end of spring training. We want to be smart about this and not rush him back out there." Lowell should be in the starting lineup on Opening Day if he can avoid setbacks this spring.
Good news for the Red Sox. Lowell's health will be a major factor in trying to get past the Rays in '09. Now what about a Lowell for Molina trade

If he's ready to open the season, that is very good for the Red Sox. If not, they should be OK at 3B with Jed Lowrie holding it down until Lowell is back.
