Red Sox Bay Can't Replace Manny??

To all those who said Manny couldn't be replaced and the Sox couldn't win without him, meet Jason Bay. Jason Bay has hit two homeruns and drove in five runs in his first two postseason games ever. Yes, this guy who was not supposed to handle the pressure of October baseball is straight mashing and has been since coming over to Boston. Bay hit .293 with 9 HR and 37 RBI in 49 games with Boston and played great defense. People argued all day that players couldn't handle the Boston pressure or the spotlight of the Nation. Talent overcomes most things. Congrats to Bay and I hope he keeps it up. Manny who??

This has been huge for us, Bay hits the GW game 1 and gives the sox a big lead in game 2, I really hope we sign him to an extension in the offseason.

Bay is under contract through next season so no rush on the extension.

I'll admit I was dead wrong here.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

    I didn't think it'd be a huge drop off but I still figured there'd be a drop off none-the-less.

It appears I may have been wrong even on that regard.

I've always liked the Bay pickup, but I agree with Zito here.... that Manny fellow hasn't exactly been too shabby either.

You and me, with our legs tied together to participate in a three legged race at a picnic, could replace Andruw Jones.

Jason Bay has done a very nice job with the Red Sox. I've always liked him, as he is a team player that knows his role and plays it well.

Who doesn't have faith in a good Canadian kid?!?!?!?!?!?
    They shall be punished.

And is this one of those deals were everyone wins? Bos and Bay, LA and Manny, Pitt and their ability to kill all hope for another 5 seasons?

    Re: Bay Can't Replace Manny??

I like Bay, he gives it all on every play and is a true team player. Unlike the fellow he replaced. He's definitely filled in nicely. However, if Manny were with Boston and playing the way he did after the trade I would suspect that Boston would be the favorite to win it all. As much as I like Bay and think he's a better fit for the team. Manny's bat is irreplaceable, just the fear of what he can do. The thought of the Red Sox facing the man in the World Series scares the living crap out of me. Cause you know the guy will be out to prove something. My favorite part of this whole trade is that I never have to see Craig Hansen come in and throw 20 pitches, 18 of them for balls more than 2 ft out of the strike zone. Have fun Pirates fans, he's just what you need to continue your losing tradition.

It would be funny to watch the Dodgers play the Red Sox in the World Series.

I am rooting for Torre to win a ring so he can shove it right up Steinbrenner's asshole!! To think that Torre was the problem was one of the dumbest things I ever heard.

Lol, rep +. Assemble a team of over aged "me first" type players to mega contracts and then fire your manager cause he only got them to the playoffs. I've always considered Torre overrated, and still do to an extent. But I thnk far more of him than I did as a manager. If Torre faced and beat the Red Sox in the World Series that would really be a slap to Steinbrenner and the Yankees. Would almost be worth it, well no it wouldn't.
