Red Sox Battle of the Easts 1st Place Teams

The Redsox go into Philly in a 3 game series that will be against the leaders of the A. L. East and the leaders of the N.L. East. This series also has several very good pitching match-ups.

Game 1: Colon vs. Hamels: Two poitchers that can really be electric. Hamels is a huge strikeout pitcher. he has struckout 86 men in 99 innings and has posted two great outing in his last two. Colon won his last outing versus Baltimore going 6 innings and striking out 7 men and only allowing 1 earned.

Game 2: Lester vs. Moyer: The ageless Moyer is putting up really good numbers once again with a 7-3 record and a pretty respectable 4.12 ERA. He also pitched extremely well in his last outing versus Florida going 8 strong innings in a shutout. Lester pitched beautifully in the win versus Baltimore in his last outing going 7 inning and only allowing 2 earned runs.

Game 3: Masterson vs. Kendrick: Not being much into the N.L. I really never heard of Kendrick before , but he has some pretty impressive numbers this season. He has a record of 6-2 with an O.K. ERA of 4.54. In his last outing he got the win over the Cardinals going 7 innings and allowing only 1 run. Masterson lost in his last outing versus the Reds giving up two long balls in the process. He however posted his best in strikeout with 9 in the game.

Outlook: To be realistic this series is going to be really tough. The Redsox continue to struggle on the road although they did manage to take there last road series versus the Reds 2 games to 1. I would be really happy if the Redsox can come out of Philly with two of these games.

Yep and that should be the best pitching match-up of all the games.

Lugo with a double and Casey moves to 3rd. Hopefully the Sox are going to get back into this game.

He is pitching to a team that just dropped 20 on the cardinals. The phillies routinely destroy pitching.

I hope they don't drop 20 tonight. They are almost half way there.

Good for them , but without the Wangster that will most certainly balloon back into double digits very soon.

AL East is a 2 team race between the Sox and the Rays, and if the Yanks get Sabathia they'll be in the duldrums of the AL East for years to come.

The Redsox took game 2 with an outstanding pitching performance by Jon Lester. Jonathan papelbon also picked up his 20 save of the season.

The Redsox take the series with a 7-4 win in this afternoons contest. Both Lowell and J.D. Drew hoit homeruns. Drew continues to be on a tear since Big Papi has been out. Also Pedroia had three hits.
