The Seattle Mariners come to Fenway for a 3 game weekend set versus the Redsox who have been brilliant at home this season notching a 24-5 record. This could really be a bad sign for the Mariners as they have a pretty egnimic offense at this time.
Game 1: This game has to be the gem of the series with Felix Hernandez going up against Bartolo Colon. Hernandez was outstanding in his last outing versus Detroit going 7 innings and only allowing 2 hits while striking out 7 and walking 0. He also got the shutout. Colon has been brilliant since being called up from the D.L. winning all 3 of his starts and having a 3.50 ERA. This one should be the best of the series.
Game 2: This match-up is between Tim Wakefield and Miguel Batista. Batista has been not so good this season posting a 3-6 record and a very high ERA of 5.90. Wakefield has been pretty erractic himself but was very good in his last outing versus Baltimore going 7 innings and only allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits.
Game 3: Jarrod Washburn who has been even more horrible than even Batista will be facing off against rookie Justin Masterson who has been very good since being called up. Washburn has compiled a horrific 2-7 record with an even worse ERA of 6.56 while Masterson in 3 starts has went 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA.
Outlook: With the way the Mariners have been playing all season long with little to no offense and the way the Redsox have been playing at home with a 24-5 record this series looks like it really favors the Sox to sweep. Game 1 will be the tell tale of that.
