    Padres-Red Sox

This has to have series of the year potential. That means it won't be and all three games will be stinkers, but this could be an amazing series. First of all, the Pads and Sox have been the best teams in their respective leagues (albeit barely) this year based on records. Second, the Padres have their two best pitchers (both of whom are possible Cy Young candidates, with Peavy in the lead) and a living legend in Greg Maddux going against the Sox ace (Beckett), their own Red Sox legend (Wakefield), and Daisuke Matsuzaka (the hottest FA signing of the winter).

Both teams are looking great, the Sox lineup is potent and the Padres can get by, both teams have great pitchers going, and the final game is an epic matchup for a regular season affair. This ought to be good. I'll be okay with winning one game, but I would like to see the Sox take this series.

Definitely a positive start. Dice-K got stuck in some jams but was able to wiggle out of them, the bullpen was as good as needed, and the offense pushed off a couple for that thin 2-1 win. Prevents a sweep and is nice to see.

Another win for a New England team against San Diego? Shocking.

You have to just enjoy watching CY pitch at this point. One hit allowed, 7 strong innings, can't really complain.

And at least when they had the Black conferences-on-demand, they got the call right. Although since I would be a jackass of a coach, I'd be going out on any questionable call, demanding an umpire conference. Seriously, two overturned calls in one game, overturning the guy with the best view? The worst part may be that he got both wrong to begin with and none of the other umpires went over to correct him before the conference.

Also, I hope the fan who threw that trash at either Francona or the umpire (they were arguing at the time) got tossed. Dumbass

    I didn't see that.

    I'd hope the same.

on an unrelated note, Doug Mirabelli got some pretty strong boos tonight.

Yeah, after the correct HR Reversal, Francona came out and they were arguing, and a piece of trash almost hit him. Honestly don't know if it was a Sox or Padres fan since two targets were there, one for each side.

Then a baseball came flying in-between Hampson and the Bard/Mirabelli group (I think). Morons, whoever they are.

And from the comments made on the way out, Mirabelli deserved the boos. If it was the other way around, I'd boo when he came back to Fenway.

It nice that we're having our 2 best pitchers going against the Sox. Today's matchup should be the best.

Great win for Boston today. Beckett was on his game enough to get out of a few jams, the offense made contact and didn't try to take Peavy deep, which turned out to be the right strategy. Nice job taking 2 of 3 in Petco, and let's get out of that ballpark of doom.
