Thread: Yankees Red Sox Sunday Night

Re: Yankees Red Sox Sunday Night

    ERA: 2.70
    WHIP: 1.10

In 20 innings. Only Pettitte has the 14 necessary to qualify with a lower ERA, and he's not even facing Mats.

My question is, do you have that much faith in Jeff Karstens or Chase Wright?

I can see Friday as a realistic Yankee win prediction. The Yankees usually do well v. Schilling and Pettitte's tough, but Beckett and Mats have been on first and they are facing two guys with limited MLB experience. It's hard for me to imagine a good justification for picking the Yankees in either game. I'm not telling you who to predict, it's just hard to imagine the Yankees as the favorite in either.

You can talk all about stats but at the end of the day its who wins and who loses. Beckett struggles with the Yankees just as much as Schilling does but Karstens isn't as good as Beckett but the Yankees will give Karstens more run support. We will also finally get to see if Dice-K can pitch against against the best line-up in all of baseball.

I actually agree with Fisher on this one, but it's still early and I'm really not going to get worried if we lose this series because of the pitching disparity. Interested to see how Beckett does though.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

    2006 Wins:

    Timlin: 6
    Rivera: 5
    Tavarez: 5

    Timlin > Tavarez = Rivera

    So clear!

Mariano Rivera? If that is who you are talking about he gets saves not wins.

And if you're going to go with the wins as the only point angle

    Boston: 9-5
    Yankees: 8-6

Sure, it could be 9-8 and 11-6 by the end of the series, or 12-5 and 8-9, or anything in between. It's too early.

Saves don't matter. Wins matter. He had six wins. Timlin had five wins too

    Timlin > Rivera

Or, if you must compare SPs, from 2006

Wang (injured) > Johnson (D-Back) > Beckett > Schilling = Mussina (Hurt) > Pettite (last year, HOU) > Wright (Traded)

    Sounds right to me

The Yankees, duh, but we're comparing individuals here. The individuals transfer over, not the team.

Like I said you can talk about stats all you want but at the end of the day its who wins and who loses. Also would you really take Timlin over Rivera?

K good job Timlin you got one more win then the best closer in baseball ever. I don't see how you can even compare those two.
