Report: Sox set to sign Pineiro

BOSTON -- In a move that would mainly help from a depth standpoint, the Red Sox are reportedly on the verge of signing free agent right-hander Joel Pineiro to a one-year deal worth roughly $4 million.
ESPN.com was the first to report the news, saying that the deal will become complete as soon as Pineiro passes a physical.

Not really sure how I feel about this deal, I'm just glad to know we won't have to see him penciled in as a starter unless he spots or due to injuries. None the less, I don't have a problem with the signing being that it's a one year deal. Hopefully we can see some of the Piniero that he showed back in '03.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

Late comment I know. But I like Piniero's stuff, especially if they need to convert him to late relief. Additionally, for four million in this market, Piniero's good to get. I don't expect much, maybe some good starts or relief appearances, but it's low-risk

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.
