    Varitek to have knee surgery

Wow, big blow for the Bosox.

In the NFL it typically takes 3-4 weeks to return from a scope. Anybody know how long it might take a catcher?

Not good. Damn sorry to hear that. I'd much rather see the Sox win the East than the Yanks.

This just puts a higher burden on Big Papi to carry this team to a title. Do I think he can do it? Absolutely.

unless he's going to catch and pitch, I don't see it happening.

Offense and scoring as a whole. That's what I meant.

yes, you said in reference to carrying them to a title...no pitching and catching = no title

Oh yes, pitching and sufficient catching does help.

    He already does...

As far as Varitek, I respect him, but I despise, him, and I couldn't be happier. But it sucks to see a gamer go down, prissy *****es like Nomar are supposed to be the ones to collapse...

Varitek should be back by playoff time at the latest, though the Sox being there is getting dimmer by the day.

If he got hurt one day earlier, the Sox could emergency trade for a guy. This wouldn't be nearly as bad if Mirabelli didn't suck this year and wasn't only here for Wake.
