  1. First Game of The Season

Opening Day is Opening Day, but the season for me really doesn't feel real until I am there in the stands in person and Saturday was that day for me. Game two of the season, Brewers' Marcum versus the Reds' Wood. The game itself was a good one, with Wood throwing a very pitch efficient, strike after strike type of performance. The young lefty is quickly showing he is among the brightest in an already talented Reds rotation with a lot of maturity for such a young pitcher. The Reds bats didn't disappoint ...
  2. Playoff Picks + Homerism

Like Pete Rose, I allegedly never bet against my team. Homers ahoy!

    Division Series

    Cincinnati vs Philadelphia:
Reds in 5. See picture above.

    Atlanta vs San Francisco:
Giants in 4. Zito's slumber will give the entire team the rest and strength they need.

    Texas vs. Tampa Bay:
    Rays in 4. ...
  3. Back In First

Today I went to the Marlins-Reds game. It was hot out, like really hot. I was able to snag a pretty good special though as the Reds had a 'tailgate' offer where you could $35 tickets for $25 with a free $10 concessions voucher. Sweet, huh? Problem was though that as I sat directly in the sun (curious that so many people were choosing to stand in the shade, next to the misting fans) I chose to sit in the sun and baked. Hell, there was even some woman about two rows down, eight seats over who had ...
  4. Hi, I'm Sam LeCure & I will pitch against any ace.

Sam LeCure was called up to the Reds for his Major League debut this season when Homer Bailey was placed on the 15 Day DL. He is a prospect, not a big one, the kind of guy who might make it as a 5th starter. Good to have in case of emergency, but not the guy who will pitch game 7 in the World Series. He does probably regularly post on FML as his luck just isn't great. Yes, he got called up, but he is taking bullet after bullet for the injured Bailey.

After tonight's game against the ...
  5. Mike Leake Appreciation

Yes, it's seven starts and it's only May, but no matter what happens from here on out, this kid has been great and delivered beyond expectations.

He had some trouble nailing down the MLB strikezone, but from his third start out he has only walked 8 batters. He's only allowed 36 hits in 46.2 innings pitched. He has 6 quality starts in 7 attempts. Leake's GB-FB ratio has been great (77-60.) And he has pitched 7 innings in his four of his starts, with the lowest thrown being 6 innings. ...
