  1. Sim Leagues, it's a serious business.

I am going to get it out of the system, so that those who are not a part of sim leagues will never have to worry about blogs on sims ever again.

But most of you have or are a part of a league. If not, sim leagues are like complex fantasy leagues that are beyond fantasy since it's not based on real life production, instead, it's based on rating forumalas and a statistical generator. Geeky, yes, very. But as sports fans, aren't we all? Sim leagues bring out the best in a sabermetrician, ...
  2. My blog entry concerning the NFL Draft

I like the idea of the draft being in primetime, but I do not like that it's going against the playoffs of two other major sports. Plus there's baseball. It's a good time to have DVR or a remote handy. But one wonders if Roger Goodell is attempting to become an iconic authoritarian like David Stern was previously? Then again, football generates the most bang for the buck amongst the four major sports, and NASCAR.

I am a diehard steeler fan. But I am not naive to ignore Big Ben's ...

  3. It's been half a month, so cue the end of the world.

I think the media (cough ESPN), idiot fans, and other very uninformative talking heads like to ring the bell at such an early stage in any sporting season. It's two weeks into the 2010 season, and I'm sure we're all ready to write off the Boston Red Sox, hail the Rays as champs, declare Oakland as an IT team again, and hand Livan Hernandez the Cy Young. Right..., no, wait, wrong.

I don't need to cite fantastic examples of people jumping on the bandwagon, or jumping overboard too soon. ...

  4. Santonio and his farm heading to the Jets?

Those are the reports, for a pedestrian haul of a 5th rounder.

I'm largely indifferent and un-phased by this trade. Granted, there goes the #1 receiver and a play-maker, and one could question if Mike Wallace is ready to step right in, I'm not sure. Holmes will always be in NFL history for having a top 5 catch. But his fate seems to be similar to David Tyree, his legend fading fast. Fortunately, he's a starting caliber receiver and gives Mark Sanchez a good punch of Braylon Edwards, ...

  5. Pinpointing NBA draft busts

So we all know about the 5 Kentucky kids declaring. Going out on a limb, not much of one, and saying 2.5 prove their worth. John Wall would need some bizarre collapse not to fail, I guess if he goes to the clippers, that's his cue. I think Eric Bledsoe will be a solid NBA player. Patrick Patterson's chances are 50/50. I'm writing off Cousins and Orton, I'll re-name them Brendan and Julian Wright. Remember them? Patterson started changing his game in his junior year, he didn't really complain ...
