And I don't know if Shard, Oden, Beasley, Douglas, or James Jones are FAs or not. That's a solid playoff team, solid depth, and if Bosh and Wade play better, I could see them exceeding expectations. But again that's largely on Wade reverting back to some of his pre-LeBron form (i.e. being the unquestioned leader of the Heat). Deng and Chalmers are the only decent defenders in the starting lineup so they're going to be pretty ugly to watch. I think the most intriguing aspect as that with several significant new pieces and no LeBron, this will really test Spoelstra's mettle as a coach. Offensively, I think they could be real interesting with two bigs that can shoot the three and one of them being a very good passer/handler. At best, I see them cracking the top four, especially if things go well, Wade stays reasonably healthy, and Spoelstra turns out to be a pretty damn good coach. Realistically, I'd say 5-7 seed range.

i definitely know beasley, oden and james jones are free agents. i dont know if rashard is, and toney seems largely irrelevant with all those pgs already there.

right now... cavs, pacers, bulls, wizards, raptors, heat, hornets, nets would probably be my top 8 in the east. the magic are improved, the hawks declined, the pistons are just about the same, the bucks, sixers and celtics are still a year or two away... and i refuse to speak about the knicks. im still the biased schmuck thats trying daily to convince himself that jr smith can come in motivated and be a great number 2 next to melo.

so really... i think that top 8 holds, unless the knicks try playing basketball the first 5 months of the year.

I'd say the Hawks remained neutral. But that will still put them at risk. Nets declined. Bobnets didn't really do much to except draft hammer's girl Hairston. Knicks could be fun if their shooters click, score 120 and allow 120. I'd like Detroit if they would just dump SmiF on the nets and keep Monroe. I'd say those are the ones gunning for the bottom spots.

jason smith to the knicks, mike miller to the cavs, trevor booker to the jazz. and allegedly the lakers and rockets made max offers to dirkalirk, but he took a little over 8 mil a year to go back to dallas. but hey, at least melo saved us 6 mil over 5 years on the deal he signed!
