Considering I'm a Steelers fan, yes.

And college conferences are different, as Strength of Schedule matters not in the non-polled NFL. You want the conference to do better so your team looks and is perceived as better.

The closest pro sport comparison would probably be if you need a division rival to win a game to help your team get into the playoffs.

If a Raiders win over Denver helps the Chargers get into the playoffs I want the Raiders to win, but I won't post/yell "Woo! Raiders pride!" if that desired outcome happens.

That's what strikes me odd about the whole "conference pride" stuff in college sports. Yeah, I get wanting the conference to do well as a whole because it helps your team out by making their SOS that much better. But fans don't stop there, they yell about "conference pride" and get into sports fan debates about who roots for the better conference and stuff like that.

If it was just about wanting your college team to do better by virtue of the SOS the entire concept of "conference pride" wouldn't exist, because that's not pride in the conference, that's being a fan of that team and wanting them to look better.
