NBA The Great Boston Bailout, Part II?

The Boston Celtics are deep in discussions with the Los Angeles Clippers on a blockbuster deal to send coach Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The final hurdle of a deal centers on the Clippers' willingness to include guard Eric Bledsoe into a trade package with Boston, sources said.

Boston and Los Angeles are discussing a package that will send DeAndre Jordan and a first-round pick to the Celtics for Garnett and the right to hire Rivers as coach, sources said.

Garnett will waive his no-trade clause to go to the Clippers, where he'll be reunited with Rivers. Celtics assistant Ty Lue also will likely join them in Los Angeles, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Clippers owner Donald Sterling is prepared to pay Rivers in the neighborhood of the $7 million annual salary he currently holds with the Celtics, front office sources said. Rivers has three years and $21 million left on his Boston deal.
I don't see this working out for the Clippers. Why would you trade DeAndre Jordan and first round draft picks for Garnett, who has maybe one year left in him, and a coach with a huge salary when you can hire Lionel Hollins without having to give up compensation? Add in Eric Bledsoe and this is going to end up being the most lopsided trade made in the last five years.

Yeah, I don't understand why the Clippers would want to do this. I think it would set the franchise back, again.

Rivers is overrated as a coach and Garnett is a dinosaur.

Getting rid of Vinny alone helped that team gain a few wins.

    Bledsoe is the hold up.

I like the idea of Rivers coaching them but its cheaper just to make Billups the coach. I mean, he probably did more than Del Negro anyways.
I think the Rivers angle is also an effort to bring back Paul.

Billups as coach wouldn't be the worst idea in the idea, but you know it would just give an excuse for douchebags like Bill Plaschke and T.J. Simers at the LA Times to rip Sterling for going cheap (which he is, but the reason Del Negro is a terrible coach isn't because he was paid less).

It is until it becomes self-serving to the point that they make even Sterling look like a sympathetic figure. That's how bad their trash columns are.

Boston willing to take out Bledsoe if they can dump Terry or Lee. Weird
