    How do the Lakers figure they can trade for Dwight Howard now? Bynum + the draft pick and the trade exception from Dallas in the Odom trade??

    This mess with Odom only makes the bs nixing of the trade that much worse.

    I think I'm pretty much done as an NBA fan.

    They'll entice him with part ownership of the Sparks.

    essentially, a team has a year to spend in other trades, equal to what the trade exception was. a trade exception is usually... like the odom deal, where its a player for a pick. so, off hand i dont recall the number so lets say its 8.9 mil... the lakers now have a year to spend 8.9 mil extra in trades. they dont have to, obviously... but they essentially get a free 8.9 mil to acquire talent. so instead of the usual 110% (or whatever the cba upped the rule to now) of salary in a trade... they can now acquire 8.9 mil more than the team theyre trading with... or they can spend 3 mil in 1 trade, and then 5 in the next one.. etc etc.

    It's a player from Duke. Shooting guard. Not to be confused with a "Trajan Langdon".

    @sportsguy33 Bill Simmons
    Just got word the Clips/CP3 trade is definitely off. Can only be revived if NBA bends on its super-steep asking price. This is I-N-S-A-N-E.
    Impossible NOT to think of this video when thinking about David Stern's performance these past 4 days:

    CHRIS PAUL . . . YOU'RE FIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRREEEEEEDDDDDD*DDDD!

    David Stern didn't screw Chris Paul. Chris Paul screwed Chris Paul.

    Are they going to block whatever free agent deal he signs in the off season?

    But how did Dallas get to acquire Odom's 8.9 mil salary because I'm assuming they were over the cap?

    I guess the next question is what was the point of creating a trade exception for the Mavs when the Knicks could have signed Chandler outright as a free agent.

    They did a sign and trade with the Knicks and another team.

    its a valid question... i refuse to believe that getting rid of andy rautins, and getting the rights to two europeans thatll probably never come over, were that important. but whatever, i guess it was just to give chandler a signing bonus or something... i read they couldve given him a 5th year, but gave him a major signing bonus instead.
