BALTIMORE -- Tuesday's day off was crucial for Orioles catcher Javy Lopez, who said his sore back would not have allowed him to play if there was a game.
Lopez left Monday's season opener with spasms but was in the lineup Wednesday against the Oakland A's. The Orioles are being cautious about Lopez's health because he is one of the league's most productive offensive catchers.
"The off-day was great for me, because Tuesday was a better day than Monday, but I still wouldn't have been able to play," Lopez said. "Now I feel fine. I just have to be more aware."
