Nolan Reimold underwent a successful discectomy Monday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
The surgery, which was performed by Dr. Ziya Gokaslan, involved removing a bulging disk from his neck and fusing two vertebrae together to alleviate pressure on a nerve. As Reimold said last week, it's believed to be similar to the procedure NFL quarterback Peyton Manning had last year. Reimold hasn't ruled out returning later this season, but it's a long shot.
Sucks for the second place Orioles. Reimold could have definitely helped the O's stay in the hunt in the second half but it doesn't look like he will be a factor for the rest of 2012. Orioles need some help in LF and the rotation if they expect to have any staying power.
