Orioles acquired C Taylor Teagarden from the Rangers for RHP Randy Henry and a player to be named later.
Teagarden, who turns 28 later this month, has a .220/.286/.417 batting line over 392 plate appearances in the big leagues. While he wasn't really in the Rangers' plans anymore, he should do just fine as a backup to All-Star catcher Matt Wieters.
Duquette came out with a list of needs the other day and he just filled one of them, defensive minded backup catcher. He's not going to provide a lot offensively but with Wieters playing five days a week, anything he gives will be a bonus.
