According to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles have signed Jeremy Accardo to a one-year, $1.08 million contract.
In other words, he'll make the same salary he made last season. The Blue Jays recently non-tendered Accardo after he posted an 8.10 ERA and 2.25 WHIP over five appearances with the big club this year. The O's are obviously optimistic that he can still muster some of the potential he showed when he posted a 2.14 ERA over 64 appearances back in 2007.
I have always like Accardo's potential and one year he did reach it but I think 2007 is long behind him. This isn't going to hurt the O's any and it might pay off so not a bad signing. I was expecting him to sign a minor league deal but maybe the O's saw something in him last year that says he will bounce back.
