    Buyers calling on Braves

    http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sp.../18braves.html

The news that Time Warner is exploring a possible sale of the Braves and Turner South has generated quick and considerable interest from potential buyers, according to the investment banker handling the case.

"The phones have been ringing off the hook," said Steve Greenberg, a managing director of New York investment banking firm Allen & Co.

eh. I don't know if that's a good idea. He already owns what, the Falcons and the Force (arena league). I love him for my Falcons, don't want them to suffer cause he has to divide his attention and bank account to three franchises.

anyway. I think the chances of Blank buying the team are slim. Mr. Marcus (the other Home Depot billionaire) has already said he has no desire to go in with Blank to buy the Braves.

Well, I hope its somebody who's willing to give JS a higher payroll.

I was just gonna post that...beat me to it.

I sure hope Blank can buy the Braves and give JS some spending money. Maybe we can get a closer that way.

Oh so true! Disney has been WAY to stingy on spending money. I wonder what that would mean to the Braves Spring training complex in Kissemmee?

It's hard to say that the Braves have been stingy or not. They funnel and hide revenues with their TV deal. Does Time Warner have stadium rights?

As far as I'm aware, the city of Atlanta owns Turner.

Im not sure. I know that Disney is the Parent company. I was just curious if and when the Braves get sold, what happens to their spring training complex in Kissimmee, FL (Orlando)... that is owned by Disney and is part of Disneys Wild World of sports...

This is one of the problems when a party buys a team that has diffused its revenue streams in the stadium and media. It crippled the Marlins, because Wayne Huizenga shafted the team with a terrible staidum rent deal when he owned the team and stadium.

The city of Atlanta does not own Turner.
