McCann To See Eye Specialist

PITTSBURGH -- Brian McCann will visit a specialist in Washington, D.C., on Monday to gain better understanding of why he has experienced blurred vision in his left eye over the past two weeks.

There's a chance that McCann's vision has changed since he underwent Lasik surgery at the conclusion of the 2007 season. If this is the case, the Braves' All-Star catcher would need to undergo the corrective procedure again and possibly be sidelined for at least a week.

But before putting himself in a position where he might need to go on the disabled list, McCann has attempted a handful of other corrective procedures. After finding dry spots on the 25-year-old catcher's left eye last week, an eye doctor in Atlanta suggested the use of a corrective contact lens.

I hope McCain won't need to get this procedure done but if it must happen at least he should only miss only a week. David Ross played pretty good today in Game 3 against the Pirates so I'm hoping from a good showing from Ross while McCain is out.

Brian McCann is pleased with the results of his latest pair of contacts.
McCann went 0-for-3 Tuesday night in his first rehab game at Single-A Myrtle Beach, but his vision wasn't the problem. "When I had my contacts in tonight, I could see really good," McCann said Tuesday. "This is the best that I've been able to see in a long time. Toward the end of the game, my eyes started to get a little bit dry. So tomorrow night, I'm going to try to use some drops and see how it feels."

He has plenty of time to get used to them which is the good thing.

Obviously, I really hope the new contacts work and he is able to rejoin the team in another ten days or so. Any chance of making the playoffs are severely damaged, if not destroyed, if he has to miss extended time. Definitely hoping for the best for B-Mac.
