    Braves Glavine's Return is Close

The Braves are close to re-signing Tom Glavine to a one-year deal, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports.
The Braves' latest proposal would give Glavine a chance to earn $4.5 million this season. Glavine is expected to be ready for Opening Day, so he'd take over a rotation spot that seemed destined to go to Jorge Campillo.
So much for Glavine and Maddux going in the HOF together. Looks more like Smoltz and Glavine will now. $4.5 million a too much for Glavine these days. Braves better hope he can last 20 starts.

    Re: Glavine's Return is Close

It's not that big of a deal if Glavine doesn't hold up physically. The incentives ensure that the Braves don't lose too much money if he can't rack up the starts. The biggest problem could be if Glavine stays healthy and can't pitch at a high level. Can Bobby Cox and the organization show him the bullpen (or the door)? Campillo is capable of being a great fifth starter and Tommy Hanson could be popping up at some point in the summer, so the concern is that Glavine could be a road block to these other guys. But as long as he pitches relatively well, all will be well.
