You get what you pay for. Did you really believe you can get anything good for Jo-Jo Reyes or Charlie Morton?

    Re: Screw Peavy, Get Vazquez?

The AJC's Dave O'Brien reports that the White Sox will get Tyler Flowers, Brent Lillibridge, Jon Gilmore and Santos Rodriguez from the Braves for Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan.
Incredibly, the White Sox won't be getting back any advanced pitching in the deal, though Rodriguez does have a live arm. Flowers is a significant talent and Lillibridge is probably better than he showed last season, but this still looks like a nice deal for Atlanta.
It might be time to start laughing guys. If this is true, Kevin Towers is going to be a pissed off man and will now want even more in any deal with the Braves. Braves balked at trading Flowers for Peavy and now are trading him for someone who couldn't get Peavy with a broken arm. Wren better be praying they get AJ Burnett.

Wow, if this ends up being the actual deal I will be shocked.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

2009 is not look too good for the Braves already and the season hasn't even started.

So, according to Frank Wren, Tyler Flowers is expendable for Javier Vazquez but not Jake Peavy.

The level at which Frank Wren just ranked Javier Vazquez KT better not talk to him anymore regarding Peavy unless Hanson's name is involved.

Can I get some thoughts from Braves fans on Jo-Jo Reyes? Does he have the stuff his minor league numbers would indicate? Would you say he has the potential to develop into a decent starter at the ML level? Flowers seems to be the huge piece in this deal (and if he can develop as a C, looks to be a great in the future), but with the way the White Sox rotation looks right now, Reyes may end up as the 4th or 5th starter this year (I really don't care about the IF, it looks like he might have some potential, but I'd rather Beckham and Viciedo develop into what they're supposed to be), could he possibly put up a sub 5 ERA in 30ish starts?

By the way, if the Braves can do what to this point has been impossible, that being get Vazquez to stop hanging his curveball, they might be getting an ace. He has electric stuff, he just hangs the curveball FAR too often, and as a result, gets in trouble and gives up big innings. He's the type of pitcher who COULD go out and dominate the best lineup in the league in one start, then go out and lay an egg against the worst lineup in the league his next start. It's too bad you guys lost Mazzone, he would've probably been able to fix Vazquez.

Any Braves fans care to respond?

I am not a Braves fan but do think Reyes will get a real chance to pitch in Chitown. That should benefit him.

Jo Jo, from what I've seen, is a pretty good pitcher right now. Solid #2 upside, I'd say, but not ace material. He was effective in the minors, and I do think that'll translate into Major League success.

I like the sound of that, all the Sox really need from him is #4 ability, 1-3 is already filled for the next few years at least. If he can do that, and Flowers develops, I will really like this trade.

    Re: Screw Peavy, Get Vazquez?

Here's the guy we don't know about:

Left-hander Boone Logan was dealt from the White Sox to the Braves in a six-player deal.
Logan, 24, has a 5.87 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP in 144 appearances since being rushed to the majors in 2006. Lefties have hit .272 off him, while righties are at .333. The raw stuff is there for him to be a pretty good specialist, but the Braves have no shortage of superior candidates for their pen. Unless someone gets hurt in spring training, there won't be much reason to carry him.
