    Braves Could Maddux Return?

I was reading an article today about how Maddux is being wasted by the Padres since they aren't going anywhere this season. So I got to thinking about him returning to the Braves. Smoltz is out of the rotation and the Braves need a starter. I would love this if the Braves brought back Glavine and Maddux for one last hoorah. The Braves have OFers to give the Pads which they need. Here's what Jake Peavy had to say: "He can help somebody. It sucks that this is probably the last year of his career and he's got to sit here and be a part of this and have (this be) the last thing he remembers in baseball -- if this thing doesn't turn." I hope the Braves are at least thinking about it. It would be great for baseball and for the Braves organization.

I wouldn't mind getting something in return for Maddux since the Padres appear to be going nowhere this year.

Why the **** should I agree that yet another player leaving for greener pastures is great for baseball? Sure, Maddux deserves a better team but whatever happened to a player's loyalty to the team that he is under contract?

Maddux is not asking for a trade so his loyalty is not questionable. And its not like Maddux hasn't been traded before. He did well for your Dodgers. It would make for an awesome story and generate attention to baseball.

I agree, reuniting Maddux with Glavine and Smoltz would make one heck of a story.

Yeah, I was glad Maddux did well for LA, but if I were a Cubs fan, I'd been pissed off that they let him go again. Maddux returning to Atlanta would make for an awesome story for only the Braves and their fans. No one else should be happy that Maddux would replace Jeff Bennett as a starter.

Its a great story for all fans of the game. Cubs fans weren't pissed that Maddux left. He was sucking balls for them that year.

It'd be quite the contrary if you took a poll of all fans of the game if they were happy that Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz won the division 14 years in a row.

Why are fans of other teams not allowed to like it?

Don't you agree that the Arizona's acquisition of Dan Haren to form the best 1-2 starting pitcher combo in baseball was just fantastic for "all" baseball fans?

If Dan Haren was a multiple time CY young award winner with 350 wins and a guaranteed HOFer even if he doesn't throw another pitch and Brandon Webb was a 300 game winner who's also a guaranteed HOFer even if he doesn't throw another pitch....then yeah, that'd be pretty cool.

    Re: Could Maddux Return?

Its a cool story but nothing like the magnitude of Maddux returning to the Braves. We're talking about four possible HOFers on the same team (Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Chipper)!! Players on opposing teams might not like it but fans will appreciate the story.

You would what would be cool if you are a San Diego fan? That Greg Maddux can reserve a meaningful place in Padres history if he puts the finishing touches on a HOF career in a Padres uniform.

I'm a Giants fan and I don't want Maddux ending his HOF career on a team fighting for last.
