TIGERS 4, BRAVES 4
at Lakeland, Fla.
Wednesday, March 7
Braves at the plate: Craig Wilson hit his first home run of the spring with a long-distance solo shot that landed on the top of the left-field berm at Joker Marchant Stadium in the second inning. Willy Aybar's RBI groundout and Andruw Jones' run-scoring double tied the game in the sixth.

Tigers at the plate: Dane Sardinha provided a go-ahead tally with a sacrifice fly scoring pinch-runner Kevin Hooper in the bottom of the eighth. Gary Sheffield went hitless, but his bases-loaded walk in the fifth opened the Tigers' scoring. Magglio Ordonez's sacrifice fly and Carlos Guillen's single also helped the Tigers forge ahead with a three-run rally.

Braves on the mound: John Smoltz scattered three hits in as many scoreless innings, stranding a runner on third when Guillen nearly knocked him over on a line drive back to the mound. Jonathan Johnson followed with three innings, giving up three runs in the fifth.

Tigers on the mound: Wilson's homer was the only blemish on what were otherwise three perfect innings from Jeremy Bonderman, who struck out two batters and used his changeup well. Chad Durbin and Jason Grilli each turned in a scoreless inning before back-to-back walks from Jordan Tata set up a two-run sixth.

Grapefruit League records: Braves 5-1-1, Tigers 4-3-1.

Up next: The Tigers trek to Florida's Gulf Coast on Thursday for a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Reds in Sarasota. Nate Robertson is scheduled to make his second start of the spring, followed by Joel Zumaya, Fernando Rodney, Felix Heredia, Zach Miner, Edward Campusano and Wilfredo Ledezma. Aaron Harang is slated to start for Cincinnati. Ivan Rodriguez, Brandon Inge, Placido Polanco, Curtis Granderson, Magglio Ordonez and Gary Sheffield are expected to make the trip.

The Braves will return to Disney World to host the Yankees in a 1:05 p.m. ET game. Tim Hudson is scheduled to start for Atlanta against Mike Mussina.
