D'Backs Arizona intersted in Nomar...as an outfielder

    http://www.azcentral.com/sports/chea.../1202rant.html

Robin Yount did it. So did Mickey Mantle. So can Nomar Garciaparra move from shortstop to center field?

The Arizona Diamondbacks have talked about that possibility. Garciaparra, who is a free agent, is willing to move positions, and the Diamondbacks have had internal discussions about whether to offer the former Red Sox star a contract. It is possible that the D-Backs could also sign the two-time American League batting champion to replace Royce Clayton at shortstop and keep the position warm until super prospect Stephen Drew is ready in 2007.
    interesting I guess...also:

    • The Angels, after losing out on Paul Konerko, could look to bring back Troy Glaus and move him to DH.
AZ could shed some dollars and get some nice prospects from LAA.

Hmmm I like that Normar could play SS, "keep it warm until Drew is ready. I am going to miss Glaus, but I would like the D-Backs to get some younger prospects from LAA.

Is there any team that Nomah isn't rumored to be in talks with? Seems like the Cubs don't want to keep him around.

Hell, even the Yanks seem interested.

Sticking him in CF is probably the worst option though.

I'm positive the Red Sox and Cubs aren't interested...and I'm willing to bet the Marlins, too.

Who knows now? The Cubs lost out on Furcal and might have to look for Nomar unless they want to keep Plan B Neifi their starter. Iwouldn't ruel it out just yet.

they said long before they were interested in Furcal (at least publicly) that they weren't bringing Nomar back.

The Yanks are even interested in sending Jeter or ARod to CF. So they are desperate. I think this is a bad move no matter what. Stay away Arizona.
