    D-Backs closer in 2006(Poll)

I personally have always like Jose Valverd's stuff, so I think he should be our closer next year.

With the DBacks in need of SP, a catcher, and a middle infielder and somewhere around 20 million to spend, I don't see them going after a FA RP. But they could try something in a trade. If not though, I think Valverd is the obvious choice. Lyon may be okay with more experience and Bruney just didn't get it done last season.

Who is on the trading block for you guys? Anybody?

I think Cintron is also on the trading block. You could get some RP talent for him for sure.

BTW, how is Valverde's stuff? I haven't really had a chance to see him pitch and was wondering if he really had the stuff to be a closer.

Don't forget Glaus. Valverde has nasty stuff but is better as a setup man than a closer. They could try it but I think they can go out and get one of the less expensive closers like a Todd Jones until they feel one of their relievers can indeed handle the fulltime closer job.
