    D'Backs Kennedy wins #20

Ian Kennedy overwhelmed the Pirates en route to his 20th win on Monday, allowing just one hit in eight scoreless innings of work while striking out 12 in a 1-0 Arizona victory at home.
Kennedy joins Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling and Brandon Webb as the only pitchers in Diamondbacks franchise history to have a 20-win season. The 12 strikeouts were a season high, and matched a career best. He allowed his only hit in the third, where his Pirates counterpart Jeff Karstens tagged him for a single. Kennedy still isn't a legitimate contender for National League's Cy Young award, but it isn't because his numbers (2.88 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 194/53 K/BB ratio) don't stack up. Clayton Kershaw, Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee have just been that much better.
We all know that Wins is an overrated stat but this isn't a case where Kennedy hasn't earned his 20 wins. Kennedy has had one helluva breakout year and has been one of the best pitchers in the NL all season long. He's been consistent and been the ace of a first place club. He will probably just sneak into the top 5 in CY voting but any other year he would be near the top. Congrats to Kennedy on joining the likes of Johnson, Schilling and Webb.

And we know Kennedy has earned it because the more relevant stats show it.

This team in the near future is going to have a rotation that rivals the Phillies with Kennedy, Hudson, and Bauer.

I get the feeling Reefer likes the sport more than he does his team.

His posts always make him seem like he's excited when the Dodgers do something good as well.

Leo's onto something here. The sport will always become an individual team in my eyes. I like healthy competition for my Giants too.
