Diamondbacks designated RHP Armando Galarraga for assignment.
The D'Backs stuck with him about as long as they could, but they decided to cut the cord after another poor outing Monday. Galarraga posted a 5.91 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in eight starts. With a $2.3 million price tag, it's unlikely anyone will claim him off waivers, so it's possible he could wind up staying in the organization at Triple-A. Arizona hasn't decided who will fill Galarraga's spot in the rotation Saturday.
He was going to lose his spot anyway when Zach Duke came back so why not try to dump him now. Like the article says, I doubt anyone will claim him.
