Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports that the Diamondbacks have agreed to a two-year contract with manager Kirk Gibson.
The deal also contains a club option for 2013. Deserving or not, it's good to see that the D'Backs have made a commitment to Gibson despite his poor managerial record thus far. He seems to gel well with Arizona's young roster and will try to help turn things around for the under-performing Snakes.
I wish Gibson a lot of luck in his quest to get this team turned around. The front office will have to help him out because any team that strikes out 1500 times is just not going to score a lot. That's 1500 unproductive outs!! But Gibson has definitely sat on the bench for a few and earned a right to manage so good luck. He still has the most memorable homerun I have ever seen.
