July 29, 2003: Acquired OF Raul Mondesi from the Yankees in exchange for OF David Dellucci, RHP Bret Prinz and C Jon-Mark Sprowl.

Result: The Diamondbacks were desperate to add power, so they took a chance on Mondesi. The right fielder did not deliver what was expected of him, and the Diamondbacks fell out of the NL Wild Card race. A free agent at the end of the year, Mondesi was not re-signed.

July 6, 2002: Acquired RHP Mike Fetters from Pittsburgh in exchange for RHP Duaner Sanchez.

Result: Fetters did a decent job for the Diamondbacks in the second half as a setup man as Arizona hung on to win the 2002 NL West before losing in the NL Division Series to the Cardinals.

July 25, 2001: Acquired RHP Albie Lopez and C Mike DiFelice from Tampa Bay in exchange for LHP Nick Bierbrodt and OF Jason Conti.

Result: Lopez did not pitch all that well for the D-Backs down the stretch, but he did win the division-clinching game against the Brewers in the season's final week. The right-hander became a free agent at the end of the year. DiFelice was arrested for an incident in a nightclub in Pittsburgh and was released before the end of the 2001 season.

July 26, 2000: Acquired RHP Curt Schilling from Philadelphia in exchange for 1B Travis Lee, LHP Omar Daal and RHP's Vicente Padilla and Nelson Figueroa.

Result: Schilling did not pitch the way the club expected him to in the second half and the D-Backs did not make the postseason. However, Schilling would go on to be a key cog for Arizona the following year, sharing World Series MVP honors with Randy Johnson. Schilling pitched for the D-Backs until being traded before the 2004 season.

July 9, 1999: Acquired RHP Matt Mantei from Florida in exchange for RHP's Vladimir Nunez and Brad Penny and a PTBNL (OF Abraham Nunez).

Result: Mantei solidified the Arizona bullpen and helped the Diamondbacks win 100 games and the National League West. Penny went on to enjoy success for the Marlins before being traded last year to the Dodgers. Vladimir and Abraham Nunez (no relation) did not achieve the success that was predicted of them.

Man we havent beel good at trades at all, the best one is getting Schilling, who we ened up trading later in the years.
